Toddlers Tiaras and an energy drink come under fire. The parents concoct these sugary and highly caffeinated drinks for their pageant girls right before performances. Two-year-old Alexea's mom, Tori Hensley, was seen stuffing a mix of Sweet Tea, Mountain Dew and Pixie Stix down the throat of her toddler daughter on last week's TLC show. Now the drink company is working with Hensley to promote this energy mix to pageant girls to calm them down. Seriously?
The pageant mom stated that she was approached by the drink company to make a concoction similar to one on the show that will be targeted to pageant and dance girls. The Toddlers Tiaras' mom explained that they are in "the negotiation period with it."
But Hensley is talking out of both sides of her mouth, because she mentioned that she had searched for a concoction to "pep up" her daughter Alexea before the pageant.
The Toddlers Tiaras' mom stated, "We're gonna gear it for pageant kids and dance. And for hyperactive children, to help them." Hensley explained that Alexea's caffeine-laden drink tastes like a suicide mix of all different pops at the soft drink counter. Hmm...this does not sound like it is laying a solid foundation for healthy eating habits for Alexea or the other pageant girls does it?
However, Hensley explained that it is better to give the toddler pageant girls a sugary energy drink rather than lots of medications and pills. She stated, "A lot of studies show that caffeine reverses the effects of hyperactive children. Instead of medications and pills and nasty chemicals, why not give them caffeine?" Caffeine is a chemical Ms. Hensley. Is this a fake blonde moment?
Eden Woods' former manager spoke out on the mixes parents make for their pageant stars. Heather Ryan stated, "I've been around the pageant world for 20 years, and I've seen the side effects of jacking your kids up on caffeine and sugar. There's so many bad things I've seen to kids who have parents shoving sugar down their throats." Exactly!
Hensely takes offense to people saying that her precious 2-year-old Alexea will turn out to be a stripper with diabetes. Indeed...these statements are offensive; however, if the shoe fits wear it. Only time will tell how these crazy, money-driven pageant moms are affecting the future of their young children. Will their be health issues or addictions or anorexia or extreme vanity issues.
In the meantime, the pageant moms would be wise to stop doping up their children with sugar and caffeine to invoke massive energy to win a crown and make a buck. Its like steroids for baseball and football players. They should be banned in the pageant and dance industry. Shame on TLC for promoting these energy concoctions on Toddlers Tiaras.
